Linear guides are precision parts, so you must be cautious when using them. Even if high-performance linear guides are used, if they are used improperly, the expected performance will not be achieved, and the linear guides will not have a long life.
Lubrication, rust prevention: Many times our installation workers do not pay attention to wearing gloves and install directly. If the hands are sweaty and alkaline, they should wear industrial gloves for installation and maintenance, or hand wash sweat stains and apply high-quality mineral oil. In addition, it is particularly important to pay attention to rust prevention in the wet weather in the south during the rainy season. It is necessary to check whether the linear guide has anti-rust oil from time to time, and oil it for maintenance in time to prevent rust from corroding the guide rail to achieve the function of maintenance.
If THK guide rails are used improperly or have not been properly maintained, rust is inevitable, and rust will affect accuracy, so how should we solve it?
Experienced CNC lathes and machining center operators must have met: the use of anti-rust cutting fluid in daily production, it is reasonable to say that the anti-rust effect is very good, and the anti-rust cycle of the processed product can also reach the expected period. The effect is that the workbench and guide rails of production equipment CNC lathes and machining centers often appear rust.
Since the anti-rust performance of the cutting fluid is very good, why does the production equipment rust? Is the period related to cutting fluid? What kind of relationship does it have?
If the rust-proof performance of the processed workpiece is acceptable, it can basically rule out the poor rust-proof performance of the cutting fluid, and it can also rule out the guide rail rust directly caused by the cutting fluid.
This is due to the rail oil applied to the door of the THK rail. The guideway oil is usually composed of base oil mineral oil and part of sulfur and phosphorus anti-wear agents. During the circulation process, the cutting fluid contacts the guideway oil to produce part of the oil-water mixture, that is, sludge.
Oil is lighter than water, and the oil absorbs most of the alkali and anti-rust components in the cutting fluid, and the effect of water makes the THK guide rails very easy to be oxidized and rusted.
This is not the main reason for the rust of the guide rail. The main reason is that the anti-wear agents such as sulfur and phosphorus in the guide oil are hydrolyzed under the action of water, the main component of the cutting fluid. Sulfur and phosphorus are severely corrosive to steel parts. It is the main reason for the rust of the guide rail.
The solution to guide rail corrosion is either to change the water-based cutting fluid to oily cutting oil, emulsified oil, or to use a cutting fluid that does not have a particularly good cleaning effect, or to use molybdenum as an anti-wear material.
